Abstract: The Talbot Family Papers is a collection of sundry bills, receipts, notes, and correspondence relative primarily to Silas Talbot, with lesser numbers of similar material pertaining to George W., Theodore F., Henry, Charles N., Charles R., George A., and Violetta Talbot. The material is concentrated between 1785 and 1813, although some correspondence and Talbot genealogy created in the later 19th and early 20th century is included. Overall there is, correspondence, bills, receipts, notes, and other papers, of Silas Talbot (1751-1813), merchant, U.S. naval officer (commander of U.S.S. CONSTITUTION), and U.S. representative from New York, and other members of the Talbot family, particularly George W., Theodore Foster, Henry, Charles N., Charles R., George A., and Violetta Talbot. Includes letters to Silas Talbot from his son, Theodore Foster Talbot, chronicling his college days, early married life, and early career; letters from George W. Talbot to Charles N. Bancher discussing domestic and business affairs; letters from the late 19th and early 20th centures; and Talbot genealogy.
