Vessel had made eight whaling voyages out of Sag Harbor, New York, 1833-1847, before coming to Mystic. She was sold to Fairhaven, Massachusetts in 1855 and to New Bedford in 1862. A year later she was sold to Honolulu, Hawaii and her name was changed to HAL HAWAII. On one of her two voyages out of Mystic she and her tender, schooner WASHINGTON, were seized at the Falkland Islands by a British vessel. They were freed by the U.S.S. GERMANTOWN. |
