Research Requests
Museum research services provide staff-conducted research using Mystic Seaport Museum collections. Research may include identifying relevant holdings, reviewing primary sources, and summarizing findings. The scope of research depends on the nature of the request, the condition and accessibility of materials, available staff resources, and may not yield definitive answers for every inquiry.
To request research services, please complete the Research Inquiry form, and a staff member will contact you to let you know the next steps.
We assess a consultation fee of $25 to complete the initial assessment of your request, and a further fee of $75/hr. to complete the in-depth research.
Digitization Service
We can provide reproductions from a variety of sources, including books and periodicals, manuscripts, photographs and audio and videotapes. To request digitization services, please complete the Research Inquiry form above and we will work with you to assess what is available. If you already know what you would like digitized, you can complete the Digitization Request form instead.
