Includes letters and telegrams to Smalley as master of the bark JENNIE CUSHMAN and the schooner EMMA C. LATHAM and as agent for Francis C. Butman, a Boston shipping and commission merchant, in St. Vincent, Cape Verde Islands, and Goree, Senegal. Other vessels mentioned in the correspondence include schooners ARTHUR EGGLESO, ANNIE FAIRFAX, and WARREN HALLETT. Correspondents include Samuel C. Cobb and Dudley Hall of Boston; Baring Brothers of London, England; and Joseph J. Rider.
