History of the Ship Hector
HECTOR was a whaleship built in 1818 at New York, N.Y. She was registered in New Bedford, Massachusetts from 1826 to 1866, and her principal owners included William and Francis Rotch and Charles W. Morgan. HECTOR was captured and later burned by the Confederate raider SHENANDOAH, at Ascension in 1866.
